This week’s meal plans are a mixture of old favourites and current favourites. there’s the easy vegetarian chilli from this week and a crispy tofu dish I’ve been craving not to mention one of the best crispy skinned fish health bowls I’ve ever made. Read on for some inspiration!
Because inspiration is what this little corner of the world is all about. Not the, ‘you can do it’ motivational quotes kind but the get yourself in the kitchen and cook something kind. You’re totally capable of it it and it really is the first step to eating well. Learning how to cook your own food requires knowledge of food and that knowledge is so powerful. The more you know about what you’re eating the more informed decisions you can make. Not to mention that you end up eating less processed stuff which is always a win.
With all that said I had an amazing day eating other people’s food in Adelaide this week. I popped there for the day to see a friend from LA and had the best time. We spent the day in Adelaide Hills eating cheeseboards and wine tasting at The Lane and Shaw + Smith wineries. Both were so picturesque and made for a relaxing afternoon.
From the wineries we headed bak to the Mayfair hotel where we were staying (really lovely!) and made our way to Pink Moon Saloon for a pre dinner drink and then to Osteria Oggi for the most amazing meal. Our waiter basically ordered for us and I couldn’t be happier that he did. We shared the KingFish Crudo to start, which was delicate and fresh. Then shared two pastas for mains. The pine mushroom risotto was decadent and rich in flavour with a thyme crumb topping it that bought texture and a herbaceous note. The second pasta was a spanner crab and charred corn with loads of chilli laced oil and it was perfect. As is the fit out of the restaurant. A long concrete bar gives way to a blonde wood interior filled with arches and long share tables. The cobblestone floor and ceramics are also beautiful. Everyone go to Adelaide for a weekend, and no this isn’t paid, just what I got up to this week in the name of food research;)
Now to what I’ll be cooking at home:
Plan A
Day 1: Quick and Easy Vegetarian Chilli, this is quick for a chilli recipe taking about 45 minutes from start to finish.
Day 2: Crispy Skin Ocean Trout Bowls, I love these winter vegetable laden bowls, use any oily fish with an edible skin.
Day 3: Crispy Tofu with Broccolini in a Miso Broth, the crispy exterior gives way to that delicate miso broth in such a comforting way.
Day 4: Prawn and Pumpkin Yellow Curry, I love this curry when pumpkin is in abundant supply.
Day 5: Healthy-ish Chicken Nachos, weekend food at it’s best.
Plan B
Day 1: Cauliflower and Chickpea Turmeric Curry, eating loads of turmeric is such a great idea to help you keep healthy in winter thanks to it’s anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Day 2: Skillet Lasagne with Ricotta and Greens, this easy not that lasange like dish is a winner.
Day 3: Quick and Easy Vegetarian Chilli, this takes 45 minutes but for a chilli that’s pretty quick!
Day 4: Crispy Tofu with Broccolini in a Miso Broth, a yummy miso broth with green vegetables and delicate crispy.
Day 5: Lime, Ginger and Sesame Soba Noodle Salad
And this week’s bonus? Quieten any chocolate cravings with this spiced hot chocolate.
