Bliss balls! Bliss balls that are nut free, gluten free and full of fibre and protein. Bliss balls that also taste so much like cookie dough you’ll be thinking about being a little kid eating cookie dough straight from the mixing bowl… or if you’re me, being an adult and eating cookie dough straight from the bowl. Basically my new favourite bliss ball.
Friday Finds
This Friday I thought I would share some of my favourite food spots, the online ideas and recipes type food spots. As much as I will always adore books of all kinds, especially cookbooks, I also love using food blogs for recipes, it’s a big part of why I ended up writing my own. There are a few different blogs I visit for different types of food, some healthy some a little more indulgent.
CHOCOLATE AND ZUCCHINI BROWNIE WITH SALTED TAHINI CARAMEL
Well that’s a mouthful of a title. And it’s the title of a pretty amazing brownie. Fudgy on the inside with a crisp exterior and full of… vegetables. Yeah you read that last sentence correctly. It’s main ingredient is zucchini and it’s good.
CHOC PEANUT BUTTER SMOOTHIE
COCONUT AND CHOCOLATE POPS
I love Weiss bars. My favourite ones are the chocolate and coconut ones you can only by in boxes of four at the supermarket. The fact that these only come in fours is never a problem, they’re delicious I want four, it’s that I can never get them when I most want an icey pole, on the way home from beach for example when you stop at the servo or general store. First world problems right? Well this recipe solves none of those problems, it makes 4, isn’t stocked at my local service station and I can’t find it at the beach. However, it is a slightly ‘healthier’ version and I don’t need to leave the house on a 41 degree day to get one.Â
CHOC COCONUT NOUGAT BITES
The Summer Roll. A delicious nutty, chocolate, coconut, nougat treat. A treat that I’ve recreated in a slightly more nutritious manner… it’s made with nutrient dense seeds, nuts and coconut, far less sugar (just some maple syrup and the chocolate), and contains no wheat or dairy. Also tastes like a dream.
FLUFFY CHOCOLATE PANCAKES
I love all kinds of pancakes, from delicate French crepes to the  fluffy American style. These are a quick and easy version of the latter and they have chocolate in them so you know they’re going to be good. Plus they are free of added sugar and full of protein to keep you full for longer. Add some fruit and a scoop of yoghurt and you’re good to go.
THE HEALTHIEST CHOCOLATE PUDDING YOU’LL EVER EAT
How good does this look? What if I told you that it was healthy enough to eat for breakfast – a main meal – and tasty enough to enjoy as a treat? What if I said it would count towards your veg servings for the day? Yep. And it has no avocado in it, and the texture’s a bit like mousse/ a bit like pudding and can be frozen into paddle pop type things. Oh yeah, it’s vegan, gluten free and refined sugar free too. Want to know more?
BRILLIANT BEAN BROWNIES
There are no black beans in these brownies. I repeat, these brownies are black bean free. I sometimes feel that black beans have a slightly overpowering taste, even when smothered in chocolate. When I make a bean based brownie I like to use cannelini beans as you still get the health benefits of them being a plant based dessert that’s full of fibre, but with a less ‘beany’ taste.
BANANA CHOCOLATE MARBLED SMOOTHIE
This smoothie is both tasty and pretty. And full of the good stuff of course! You can use your preferred milk but almond or oat would both be delicious choices. The marbled effect is easy to do and makes for a pretty finish. We eat with our eyes first and I find the nice my food looks the more mindful I am when eating it.
