So this is basically an inauthentic riff on a bun bowl, but with coconut rice. It’s simple, delicious and the marinade can be used on chicken thighs or skirt steak too. This is a classic warm night meal in our house, we cook the pork on the bbq and nothing else requires heat so the house doesn’t get hot, perfection!
At the moment I’m all about lunch. I have a couple of go to favourite lunches. No. 1 is last night’s dinner (I am a lazy girl at heart!) and No. 2 is a rainbow salad bowl (which often involves last nights dinner ha). They’re such a great way to get loads of high nutrient unprocessed foods into your diet and are ridiculously tasty. Also, you never get bored of them because they can be varied endlessly. This post gives you a set of guidelines of what to include to be sure of a delicious and nutrient packed lunch, but remember they are guidelines, not rules, so take the reigns and make your salad bowl your own. The key is to get the balance right.
This one is totally inspired by one of my favourite lunch bowls at Tinker but it’s a simpler version you can make at home without having to create loads of components. I add nuts to it for extra protein but you could add fish, chicken, an egg or tofu if your tummy is really growling.
That there isn’t salmon skin, oh no it’s a little sheet of nori that adds delicate flavour and protects the salmon as it cooks, making the most delicious salmon noodle salad bowl ever.
This easy winter salad can be served warm or cold and is the perfect side to hearty winter dishes like, stews, pasta bakes and pies. It’s full of fragrant spices and the freshness of lemon and chilli and is everything I want and need to eat right now.
Poke bowls might seem like a summery option but by adding warm cooked prawns you cut down on that summery vibe just a little. The black rice adds a seriously nutty vibe to these bowls that are topped with my favourite poke toppings.
I’m feeling indecisive. I knew all the flavours i wanted to eat but I couldn’t decided whether i wanted to have a pretty salmon with sauce and salad thing or if a quinoa bowl was more my vibe. So I made this dish both ways to see what was best. Turns out both are best, depending on level of hunger/patience for plating. This means that you’re getting a double whammy today. 1 recipe, 2 incarnations. Lucky you.
One of my most loved recipes on the blog is the soba salmon bowl with a beautiful miso broth. But I feel like we’re getting past the broth time of year and into salad zone so I’ve rejigged it to suit our current weather and it’s now a light and delicious salad!
This is a bowl of goodness, just look a all the colours and textures you can see – so perfect! I made it with golden beetroot because I could get my hands on them but any beetroot would work.
