BANANA BUZZ SMOOTHIE

My current obsession. It’s the perfect breakfast in a hurry (or post work out snack) and you don’t have to make it look all pretty. Just pour it into a portable cup or bottle and run out the door. It’s the quickest way to get your morning coffee and breakfast in one go.

Yep it’s a banana smoothie with a shot of coffee. Plus some other things to add fibre, protein and essential nutrients to get your day off to a healthy start, and sustain you for longer. The flavor of this is sort of like a mocha caramel smoothie – it’s really good with the sweetness of the banana balancing the coffee perfectly.

Are you an organized leisurely morning person or do you run around like a headless chicken? I’m sort of a mix of the two. I love my sleep and I love doing 15 minutes of work from bed before I get up and do anything for the day. These two things mean that if I’m not working from home then I tend not to have a lot of time to spare in the morning and like to get my morning ritual down to a fine art. So a breakfast that I can whizz up in a blender in a few minutes is ideal I usually take this with me and drink it at work or on the train. That way I can clean up the blender or put it in the dishwasher before I go so I don’t come home to mess (massive pet hate)

If your extra hungry I’d suggest a slice of avocado toast would be the perfect second component to this quick breaky. And you can have it in your other hand if you’re rushing out the door.

Ingredients

1 frozen banana, frozen in chunks for easier blending

1 shot of coffee, (make it however you normally would!) allow to cool for a few minutes

¾ cup almond milk or milk of choice

¼ tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp vanilla extract

2 tsp chia seeds

1 Tbs desiccated coconut

2 Tbs rolled oats or sub with quinoa flakes or almond meal

Directions

Add all ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth. Add more almond milk or just water if too thick. Keep it simple and pour into a glass and slurp away. Or decorate the edges as per the picture. I used coconut, banana and bee pollen for decoration.
