Ummm so we’re already halfway through january and that’s a little crazy. I’ve already got my first illness for the year which is just fabulous. Actually, it’s not even that bad and my body seems to be doing it’s thing and fighting in just fine as long as I keep fueling it with the good stuff. So get ready for the good stuff, lots of vibrant colours as healthy fats this week!
The end of year is hurtling towards me at an alarming rate and if if it wasn’t for my love of the holiday season i’d be screaming for the breaks. Luckily that love is strong. I’m all ofr the food, family, friends, party times and gift giving at this time of year. it’s all my favourite tings at once and living in Australia means I also get sunshine.
It’s been such a busy week this week but I feel like that’s just the vibe for December right? Christmas parties are happening, summer is happening and the end of the year is quickly approaching. I’m trying to keep my week night meals as wholesome and nourishing (I hate using that word for some reason!) so that’s what this weeks meal plans are all about: keeping the balance in comparison to the December party time mayhem.
It’s officially summer! Although in Melbourne you wouldn’t know it as it’s decided to be decidedly unsummery (it’s a word) to start off the season. I hope everyone is getting through the rain without any major damage! This week’s plans are full of salads, noodles, tacos and burgers because that’s what i’ve been into eating at the moment- lucky you.
This week I’ve got all the pretty colours planned for you! Keeping a variety of plant foods in your diet is so important. I usually aim for about 30 different plant foods each week. This might sound like a lot, but with the 5 meals in each meal plan this week you will easily reach that! My lovely friend Mel from the Nutrition Effect recommends 40, and if you can get 40 in 5 meals then 40 is super doable.
As we gear up for silly season and life gets super busy I’m trying my best to keep my diet full of healthy goodness to balance things out. This week I’m leaning towards beautiful salad bowls, vegetable laden curries and clever dishes to use up leftovers.
This week has flown past thanks to the long weekend and I feel like I was only writing last weeks meal plans a day ago. But here we are again and this week is full of tasty things, as per usual because that’s the whole point isn’t it?
Birthday week is doooone! And it was such a good one, if a bit of a blur. I had the Bupa Blog Awards on Thursday night and although I didn’t win it was such a pleasure to be one of the finalists and meet some crazy talented people. People like Tara from the Nutrition Guru and the Chef who was the winner of my category. But the week’s been BUSY so I’m just finishing off this post this morning thus it’s probably going to be posted a little later than usual!
So this week is a pretty exciting week. It’s my birthday week (not that exciting post 30 tbh) and it’s also the week of the BUPA blog awards! I’m nominated in the healthy Eating category and super excited to attend the awards night this Thursday with all the other amazing nominees. I’m also typically excited for this weeks meal plans because they involve some of my favourite things like hummus, prawns, pasta, lemon and fgood you can eat from a bowl.
There’s not a lot of weeks left in the year and it’s kind of freaking me out a little. I’m a goal setter but my time management of said goals this year has been poor. i’m meant to have done so many more things but where does the time go?! That’s right… thinking about food.
