Okay, before you get started I’m not pretending these are a health food. I do think they’re a much better option that munching on refined sugar filled lollies though and they’re my after dinner (or lunch!) treat and I LOVE THEM. And it’s my birthday so I can eat them all! Right?!
Want to have tasty things to eat over the weekend and into the week ahead? I’ve got you covered with this collection of healthier sweet treats. All of these recipes contain no or little refined sugar, are low in the unrefined alternatives and are full of flavour. I’ve made the list in order of easiest to most difficult in terms of skill and effort. At the very bottom you’ll find a new twist on my maple lemon tarts – this time with raspberry chia jam as well!
This smoothie bowl is full of protein and fibre to keep you feeling full. Plus it has that whole chocolate drizzle thing going on to make things extra special. It’s the perfect post work out food for me and you’re going to love it.
Some nights you just don’t feel finished with your meal unless you have dessert right? These chocolate laced options will have your sweet tooth feeling as satisfied as your body.
YUMMMMMM! Carrot cake, but healthy? Yes please! I am a big carrot cake fan (thus these carrot cake waffles) and also a big bliss balls fan. These guys came about as a treat to take on the plane with me and a way to use a carrot I had left in the fridge.
If you hadn’t guessed yet chocolate and peanut butter is one of my favourite combinations. You can see this in this smoothie, this cheesecake slice and lots of other things I’ve forgotten to mention. I’m also all about skillet cookies for dessert at the moment, this is the third time I’ve made one in as many weeks. It’s becoming an issue.
This ice cream is super delicious and full of things that are good for you. It’s basically a dessert that you can feel good about, plus it’s gluten and dairy free and only sweetened with the maple syrup in that tahini caramel. Oh let’s talk about the caramel.
These are freakin’ delicious. Like, ridiculous. I almost made myself sick because I couldn’t stop eating them. Could have also been because I licked some of the drizzled chocolate off the board…hmmm. Plus they are gluten free, dairy free and lower in sugar than the cookie they’re impersonating.
