FRIDAY FINDS

Pearl Cous Cous and Roasted Carrot Salad
Pearl Cous Cous and Roasted Carrot Salad

This week it’s all about fitness. Plus a podcast and Netflix recommendation… and what I’m cooking/eating. This is a food blog after all.

The Chickpea Bowl, Hummus, Falafel, Salad and Chickpea Flatbread

  1. I’ve written before about how much I love exercising from the convenience of my own home. I really do, mostly because I don’t need exercise to be a group activity. I like to do it when I feel like it and with no one watching me. Maybe because I’m super uncoordinated? Or maybe because it’s cheaper? Or maybe because I’m an extroverted introvert who likes ‘me’ time. A lot. For all these reasons I’ve recently been trying Booya fitness. It’s an online fitness portal of sorts and has so may different videos you can do for all kinds of things, pilates, HIIT, yoga, barre body. There’s loads of different instructors so I’ve found a few I like already.  Plus there’s a free trial you can do. I like free things, if you don’t like it you or find you’re not using it enough you just cancel your subscription. Way easier to get out of than a gym membership. My exercise routine at the moment is 5×1 -2 hour long walks a week, 3 x 4km runs and 2-3 x online pilates or barre classes. What do you guys do? This is more than I used to do mostly because I’m spending a lot of time recipe testing for…
  2. Upcoming Ebooks! I’m working on two for the moment, one is all about work lunches/ easy dinners and the other is focused on breakfast. If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen some sneak peaks into both of these and can see them in the pictures in this post. Yum! To help taste test I’ve recruited friends who are ordering lunch deliveries from me, they work in the Collingwood/ Fitzroy areas and get whatever’s being tested that day delivered to them, I tend to walk it there so I also get in that daily walk. It also means there’s no food waste. Win win.
  3. New favourite Netflix show is Luther. It’s an excellent crime/mystery drama thing with Idris Elba in the lead. Need I say more?
  4. This weeks podcast favourite was a Ted Talk by Reshma Saujani, you can watch it here. It’s all about teaching girls to be brave and take risks. A lot of us accept perfection or nothing from ourselves and are too easily discouraged when faced with failure. It’s how I felt for most of my life so it really hit a chord with me. This year is all about no longer making the safe choices for me, taking risks and being okay with the fact that I might fail.

I just signed up to Booya for a trial but couldn’t find any way to acknowledge that I followed a link from your blog. Sorry. Looks like a great resource though. Thanks for the tip!
